In the year 1308 it was first documented as a 'Taverna' in the records of the nearby monastery 'Kloster Schäftlarn'. During secularisation it changed to a family-owned and operated inn . The fresco at the front wall shows Goethe, who changed horses on 7th of September 1786 on the way to his famous Italy-journey.
